Google Blog Surfing

I didn't know anything about blog surfing until a lady in Kentucky left me a comment. She ran across my page while surfing blogs. ummm
So I surf blogs now too. I have a few saved in "my favorites." I really like this one where he goes out and takes pictures of the old estates on Long Island. I've never been there but his pictures are incredible - they make you want to see Long Island in person!
Then there is this other one where these two couples went on a motorcycle journey to the corners of the US. Amazing pictures, too!
There is a lady in Queen Creek that has her first article in a magazine this September. Congrads to her!
I've found blogs where they have given way too much important information ( birth dates, names, addresses, phone numbers, etc.). I saw one blog where she had her complete name and address and all the pictures of each room in her house. I bet the burglars like her!
It always makes me laugh when I see young girls from Singapore blogs. They list themselves as 13 and still single.... chuckling as I type. They try to blog in English and everything is misspelled.
There are a million Dylan and Cole Sprouse blogs :(
I like the blogs where people go on trips, take pictures and give a brief summary of that area. You get to see areas of the world you'll never get to see in person. Or the blogs with pictures of their flower gardens - pets, or how to do projects.
***Sometimes I see pictures on blogs and wonder if they realize that pictures can be copied***

Puerto Penasco Cholla Mall Mexico

One of our trips to Rocky Point, we discovered Rocky Point had a "mall." I love to shop when we travel, so we set out to find this mall. We found it - way out there in the desert. This is what it looked like. My husband and I stood there in shock. Mall? While "shopping" (?) we actually ran into someone we both knew. Amazing!
Anyway, this morning before my husband left for work - ARE YOU SITTING DOWN? - he said: "While you're out running errands today, why don't you get a new outfit for the party?"
"Well, sure dear, if you really want me to." :)
I love fun shopping.

So Thank You Lord, for insect spray

Bless this house, oh Lord, we cry.
Please keep it cool in mid-July.
Bless the walls where termites dine,
While ants and roaches march in time.
Bless our yard where spiders pass
Fire ant castles in the grass.
Bless the garage, a home to please
Rattlesnakes, scorpions, ticks and fleas.
Bless the palo verde bugs, two by two,
the gnats and mosquitoes that feed on you.
Millions of creatures that fly or crawl,
in Arizona,
Lord, you've put them all!
But this is home, and here we'll stay,
So thank you Lord, for insect spray.

As I get the house ready for 100 guests this weekend - the sewer system backs up again. The plumber was here just a week and a half ago. I am doing the two step here. One step forward, two steps back. Oh my!

Bally's Strikes and Spares

As my husband got the "toys" in the game room ready for the Labor Day party, Si watched. This is our Bally Strikes and Spares and is Si's favorite game to "play." As the ball shoots out, he chases it the best he can while on top of the glass. Si likes to lay across the Pac-man table top arcade while we are playing it. It makes the game a bit more challenging :) Then there's Mindy... She likes to rub on the grandkids legs while they are playing with the Wii.
Cats are like potato chips - you can't have just one.

No Labor Day for Shelbyville Tennessee

Next weekend, my husband is throwing a big party at our house for Labor Day. We spent the day cleaning, fixing, sweating, fighting.... Anyway, the house and backyard are ready..?? We were making out the shopping list of all the food. Sodas - 15 different flavors, Beer - Budweiser, Hamburger and buns, hot dogs and buns, Chicken...
then I remembered those people that voted against having Labor Day as one of their holidays. Tyson in Shelbyville, Tennessee will be celebrating eid al-fitr instead of Labor Day. ummmm I will be buying chicken but NOT the Tyson brand!
.... salad, baked beans, deviled eggs, "snack" food, dessert and whatever everyone else brings. We have a 15 by 25 foot game room filled with pinball machine, air hockey, Golden Tee, slot machines, 2 arcade games, Pac-man, Touch machine, and a TV hooked up to a Wii. Outside we have an electronic dart game, covered patio with mister, "the BBQ" and a bar with a real Pepsi soda pop machine. We have a large gazebo and a pool with a slide and diving board.
I think we'll have fun!

happy birthday gigi "My Texas Sunshine"

This next weekend my grand daughter in Texas turns 8.
I flew out to celebrate her 4th birthday. I stayed at the bed & breakfast in their town. The owners of the bed & breakfast fixed a wonderful breakfast birthday party out on the front yard (the picture above). We then went to Cameron Park Zoo and the Mayborn Museum Complex. We ended the day going to their neighbor's house for a birthday cake party in GiGi's honor.
Isn't she a doll!
Her dad was in Iraq for this birthday but able to be home for this birthday. God Bless this family - Happy Birthday GiGi

Arizona Water Pipeline

This is just an idea but..... there are certain parts of the US that flood every year - Missouri, for example along the Mississippi. There is hurricane season every year in the Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.

My idea is: Arizona is a desert - we could always use some water. While those other states are experiencing heavy rain, flooding, etc. we are dry, hot and have to purchase our water from Colorado. Why not built a pipeline like they did in Alaska. It could bring much NEEDED water to drought areas from areas that get way too much. Like an Arizona Water Pipeline... What do you think?

It would create jobs. If it leaked like sometimes the Alaska pipeline does, it would not harm the environment. All you see on TV is recycle, reuse, eco-friendly and so on. Why not recycle, reuse water? This pipeline could have "faucets" along the way to Arizona - that way everyone could share the water. I'm sure that New Mexico and West Texas wouldn't mind a little bit of water.

time flies

Yesterday before I had to go to physical therapy, a plumber had to come out and unclog the sewer system. The hole to the outside sewer line is two feet from the pool ( so it is critical to NOT have the sewer system overflow). He found a large bone in the pipe. I went to therapy after he "fixed" our sewer system. I passed the back strength test so that means I can finish with the lawsuit against the girl who hit me last June. After every session of physical therapy, I have massage therapy. During the massage, I told the therapist about the bone the plumber found in my line.
With a straight face he asked me: "Is that where you hid your first husband?" :)

Sexy Green M&M Commercial

I love the M&M commercials. Recently during the Olympics I saw a new Miss Green M&M commercial. "She" is my favorite! The picture that I have shown is from a postcard I bought at M&M World in Las Vegas. If you go to Las Vegas, you gotta go there!
I found the commercial (finally) on YouTube - type in M&M Premiums Triple Chocolate Sultry Sexy Green.
She is so cool!

Michael Phelps

It's hard to find words to explain Michael Phelps winning his eighth GOLD medal. I am sure that all of the US was on the edge of their chair as that last swimmer touched the finish line. To all the swimmers, women and men of the US team - Congratulations WOW....

Amazing Ebay

I buy and sell on ebay. I like selling postcards, vintage perfumes, books, miscellaneous small things. There use to be this great auction house in Mesa where I could buy box lots of "goodies" to sell. One Saturday I was in the front auction and my husband was in the back with the box lots. I told him that there was a box of postcards and to make sure he won it. He did. When we got home I went through the box and discovered that they were not postcards but QSL radio cards. I had never seen these before and didn't know what they were. I listed a few on ebay. This radio card that I have pictured sold for $550. HOLY SMOKE!
I decided I better learn about radio cards!
I had paid 50 cent for this cute mouse house at a yard sale. It sold today for $42.47. No one else had one listed and there was nothing like it in completed item. I was hoping for $5.00.... I am truly amazed at what sells on ebay and for how much.

Three Best Jobs in the US

I'm thinking the best jobs in the US would be:

1. A weatherperson in Phoenix! How hard can it be to come to work and say on TV it's going to be ANOTHER hot day in Phoenix.

2. The photographer taking the pictures of Michael Phelps getting ANOTHER GOLD medal. Way to go USA!

3. Taste-tester at a chocolate factory. I can see it now... May I try ANOTHER one please? I don't think this batch is perfect yet :)

Olympics in Munich 1972

I looked into going to the Olympics in Munich, Germany 1972. My first husband and I were living in Germany at the time. We were both strongly encouraged NOT to go since we both had positions in the military that would put us in jeopardy if anything should happen. So we did not go. Looking back at the situation that happened - that was a good thing we did not go.
I have very little left from the years we spent in Germany. It all pretty much fits in a shoebox. They all said when you go to Germany - you'll come back with a child, a cuckoo clock and a divorce. Jackpot! 36 years was so long ago...
Today starts the Olympics in China.

Congratulations Gabe Garcia Nashville Star

Gabe Garcia did not win Nashville Star but he did win the hearts of many. If anyone that knows Gabe reads this post - tell him he's a winner in the "eyes of Arizona." Congratulations to Melissa Lawson AND Gabe Garcia!

Sunday at our house

Posted by PicasaWe invited my son, his wife and the grandkids over yesterday for BBQ'ed chicken, corn-on-the-cob, deviled eggs, and of course, our newly acquired sweet tomatoes from Arkansas and ..... lemon merinque pie. We tried the Budweiser BBQ sauce with the chicken. It was good. I sliced up 10 tomatoes. What a treat! The kids had brought over their dogs to play with Trixie. Chewy is a Briard - they had just shaved him.... Isn't he a cutey? And they just acquired Wendy - they think it's a cattle dog mix. The kids swam in the pool. Chewy likes the pool but Trixie and Wendy did not, especially with kids in there. After dinner I let the kids take my camera and go take pictures. They found 102 things to take pictures of.

I miss Estes Park

It's been a long time since I've been this homesick. I really miss going to Estes Park. If I could own a vacation home, I'd spend the fall and winter there. There is nothing like the aspens when they turn colors in the fall. There's an ark ( I should have taken a picture:( where you can buy stuffed animals. There are fun little shops on both sides of the main street - homemade chocolate, taffy, cotton candy, pizza, misc. "goodies." You can hike, fish, camp, picnic.... You can watch elk grazing in the meadows. You can drive up trail ridge road. You can get married at the Stanley Hotel (or just go up and watch a wedding). Or just walk through the hotel (remember the Shining?). You can wear your Denver Bronco clothes and feel right at home.

Maull's Barbeque Sauce St. Louis

My husband flew into St. Louis and drove down to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas for the funeral this last week. He came back yesterday. He had to get another suitcase while he was there to bring back all the "goodies" he bought on his trip. When he was driving back up to St. Louis from Walnut Ridge, he stopped at almost every fruit stand. He brought home 13 pounds of tomatoes. And he shopped at Schnucks in St. Louis and brought back his favorite barbeque sauce "Mall's." ..... along with all the barbeque sauces pictured below. Someone had make zuccini bread and sent it home with him too.
We had bacon, lettuce and wonderful home-grown sweet tomato sandwiches last night for dinner. ummmm so good!

Dr. Pepper Sweet & Kickin' Barbeque Sauce

He bought Dr. Pepper Sweet & Kickin' Barbeque Sauce at Schnucks in St. Louis, too.

A&W Barbeque Sauce

He bought A&W Barbeque Sauce at Schunks in St. Louis, too.

Budweiser Barbeque & Wing Sauce

He bought Budweiser Barbeque & Wing Sauce at Schnuks in St Louis. My husband showed my son the barbeque and wing sauce today. We were going to give him some of these "goodies" until he said.... "oh, I've tried that before. It's good. I buy it at the Walmart out by our house."
